Fixing leaks and replacing aging main water lines between the meter and your home, from the front yard to the main shutoff
Call (424) 380-6577 NowEvery Inglewood home is fed by one main water line that runs underground from the meter, usually near the curb or sidewalk, to the house. In a newer home that line is copper or plastic. In many of the city's older houses it is still the original galvanized steel, and after enough decades that pipe rusts through or closes up with corrosion on the inside.
If the line is in good condition apart from one leak, we expose that spot and repair it. When the pipe is old galvanized steel, has leaked before or is choking the home's pressure, running a new line from the meter to the house is the better long-term choice. Where the old line passes under a driveway or mature landscaping, the new one can often be pulled or bored through with only small access pits instead of a long open trench.
If the galvanized pipe continues inside the walls, we can quote repiping the house at the same time, so the new main line is not feeding old, restricted pipe.
Check pressure, flow and the meter for movement
Mark utilities and find the leak or failing section
Repair the section or install a new line to the house
Flush the line, test pressure and restore the yard
Generally the property owner is responsible for the pipe on the house side of the meter, and the water provider handles the meter and the street side. Your provider can confirm the exact boundary.
If the old main is the restriction, yes. If the pipes inside the house are also corroded galvanized, they will need replacing too for full pressure at the taps.
Not always. In many cases a new line can be pulled or bored under a driveway from small pits on either side.
